Around the time of the winter solstice, Short Film Night will once again take place across Slovenia, across the border, and online. Traditionally dedicated to the exciting short film format of domestic and international productions, this year’s rich program features six sections for adults and children, screened from December 20 to 23, 2025, at the Art Cinemas across Slovenia, the Slovenian Cinematheque in Ljubljana, the BorGO Cinema in Gorica, and on the <\/strong>online platform<\/strong> Baza slovenskih filmov.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The initiators and main co-organizers of this nationwide and cross-border event are the FeKK Ljubljana Short Film Festival<\/strong> and Kino Otok \u2013 Isola Cinema<\/strong> with its short film section Video on the Beach<\/strong>. The Short Film Night is also joined by Kinoatelje<\/strong> in collaboration with BorGO Cinema<\/strong> in Gorizia, the Animateka <\/strong>Animated Film Festival, and the online platform Baza slovenskih filmov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

From December 21 to 23, 2025, the Baza slovenskih filmov<\/strong> platform will offer free viewing of five titles from this year’s Video on the Beach, a program of shorts from the Kino Otok festival, which offers an eclectic selection of contemporary film productions\u2014from student films to works by internationally renowned authors. This year’s selection consists of films by Slovenian filmmakers of the younger generation who challenge the film form in unconventional ways through intimate stories: Babi\u0161\u010dina<\/strong> (Lucija Rosc, 2024, 24′), Husky<\/strong> (Lana Bregar, 2025, 7′), Onkraj obraza<\/strong> (Anja Resman, 2024, 10′), Do You Know, Where the Birds Live?<\/strong> (Anja Paternoster, 2025, 3′) and Kam je odneslo hlod<\/strong> (Tara Caruso Bizjak, 2024, 10′).<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

In addition to the Video on the Beach selection, a program of six films by Vinko Rozman<\/strong> entitled Za svetlobo in gibanjem<\/strong> from the Slovenian Cinematheque archive will also be available online, offering an insight into the film world of this iconic name in Slovenian avant-garde cinema.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Short film treats will also be screened at the Slovenian Cinematheque in Ljubljana: on Saturday, December 20, at 19:00, it will show films by Roberto Rossellini and Franci Slak<\/strong>, selected in collaboration with Kinoatelje and the Italian Cultural Institute, and on Sunday, December 21, at 19:30, the winning films of the 11th Ljubljana Short Film Festival FeKK<\/strong> will be screened.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

On the longest night of the year, December 21, at 18:00, BorGO Cinema in Gorizia will screen Na\u0161 vsakdanji kino<\/strong>, a film omnibus by five directors who, under the artistic mentorship of Alessandro Comodin and in dialogue with Sandro Scandolara’s book of the same name, have created a polyphonic portrait of Gorizia. The short films by Jan Devetak, Ester Ivaki\u010d, Otto Lazi\u0107-Reuschel, Laura Samani, and Francesco Sossai<\/strong>\u00a0stem from Kinoatelje’s long-standing mission: to explore the film heritage of Gorizia and intertwine stories that transcend borders.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The following members of the Art Cinema Network of Slovenia will also invite viewers to the Short Film Night: Kino Velenje, Kinogledali\u0161\u010de Tolmin, Kulturni dom Cerknica, ZIK \u010crnomelj (Dom krajanov Vinica), Kulturni dom Nova Gorica, and ZKT\u0160 Murska Sobota<\/strong>. You are invited to selected venues, where, in addition to the winners of this year’s FeKK festival, there will also be a program for the youngest viewers, featuring a selection of five poetic animal tales entitled Winter Adventures from the Animal World<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
